Lagu ini dirilis sebagai singel yang berdiri sendiri tanpa dimuat dalam album mana pun.
Sebagai bagian dari promosi "Nightmare", kala itu Halsey membagikan sebuah tautan yang mengarah pada situs bernama nightma.re.
Pada laman web tersebut, para fan diminta untuk menceritakan mimpi terburuk mereka.
