Lagu ini masuk dalam album berjudul The Future dan khusus untuk lagu tersebut, Cohen memerlukan waktu 10 tahun untuk menyelesaikannya.

"Anthem" pernah digunakan sebagai soundtrack film kriminal rilisan 1994 berjudul Natural Born Killers.
