Direkam di studio RAK, London, lagu ini dirilis pada Mei 1982 melalui label rekaman Fiction Records.
“The Figurehead” merupakan bagian dari album studio keempat mereka yang bertajuk Pornography.
Album tersebut berhasil mencapai peringkat ke-8 di UK Albums Chart.
