KOMPAS.com - Recount text adalah teks yang menceritakan kembali suatu pengalaman atau kejadian kepada pembaca atau pendengarnya. Hal ini bertujuan untuk menghibur pembaca dan memberikan informasi.
Generic structure (struktur Isi)
Struktur isi dari procedure text adalah:
- Orientation (pengenalan)
Berisi informasi mengenai tokoh, tempat kejadian, waktu kejadian, dan lain-lain.
- Events (kejadian)
Cerita mengenai kejadian atau pengalaman yang ingin disampaikan.
- Reorientation (kesimpulan)
Berisi rangkuman atau pengulangan informasi penting yang ingin disampaikan.

Language features (unsur kebahasaan)
Unsur kebahasaan yang terdapat dalam recount text antara lain:
- Menggunakan Simple past tense
Ditandai dengan penggunaan Verb 3, seperti: listened, drunk, ate, visited, dan lain-lain.
- Menggunakan personal participant
Seperti: I, me, my, dan lain-lain.
- Menggunakan chronological connection
Misalnya: first, then, next, after that, finally, dan lain-lain.
Berikut contoh recount text sangat sederhana tentang liburan ke China, yaitu:
My Holiday in China
Few years ago, I spent my holiday in China. I went there with my friends. It was an unforgettable moment for me.
On the first day, I was landed at Pudong International Airport around 7 a.m. Then we went straight to hotel to put all of our luggage and took shower. After breakfast, our bus came to pick up and sent us to several places. The first place we visit called The Bund Shanghai. It was a very famous place for tourist. We enjoyed the beautiful river and building’s view before had our lunch.
On the next day, we visited an International School in Shanghai. The school was very big and full of high-tech facilities. Me and my friends were so impressed.
The third day, we moved to Hangzhou by bus, and visited a very famous lake there, West Lake. This lake is well known by the white snake legend. After two days in this city, we continued our trip to Suzhou.
Suzhou was famous for its silk industry. Our tour guide took us to a shopping center, special for silk product. None of us bought anything because the products were expensive.
The next morning, we went to Beijing by express train. I was so excited because I never experience with that kind of high-speed train before, around 300 km/hours! In Beijing, we visited The Great Wall of China, The Palace Museum and historical place, Tiananmen.
On the last day, I bought some souvenirs for my family and friends, like perfumes, pens, and bags. I also ate some unique fruits that I never tasted before. It’s a very fantastic experience for me and my friends.
Finally, I went back to Jambi again after 10 days wonderful trip in China. I hope one day I can go to other places, like Europe.
